Tanaka Universal, founded in 1942, has rebranded as Liberteque and is now relaunching its products. Having overcome various historical challenges, the company has restored machinery, shoe lasts, soles, and cutting knives that were left behind in shoe factories of the past. While carefully preserving the passion for shoemaking of craftsmen who have inherited traditional techniques, Liberteque creates shoes that blend historical and cultural essences with contemporary fashion and trends. The company has reissued numerous shoes, starting with the world's first reproduction of the German Trainer, a German army training shoe that was discontinued in 1994. This reproduction was made in a Slovakian factory using the original shoe lasts, soles, materials, and machinery, carrying on traditional manufacturing methods.
